Another trope meme prompt that grew rampantly out of comment-length. More FF7 fic.

So, yeah, I just can't do short comment meme prompts. They just grow. But I had fun, so, um, please feel free to give me some more prompts. Maybe they'll actually keep resulting in things. Meanwhile, here is FF7 fic from the meme.

Last week's weather made me think spring was just around the corner, and then it sucker-punched me in the kidney with snow and ice yesterday. Uncool, February. Very uncool. I have not the brain power for actually making a real post. Let's just throw some stuff all up in here and leave the real postings for later.

Two conversations on technological developments in the confessional booth, and parkour/dangerous shit to try as related to hockey and FF7. Also some crap on how I end up titling stories. )

Last Monday when I was driving, I took a turn too sharply and spilled a ginormous crockpot of homemade apple sauce onto the floor of my passenger's seat. I had to pull over to the side of the road and scoop as much of it back into the crockpot with just my bare hands and a piece of tinfoil I yanked off the top of a loaf of cornbread. (The applesauce was for an office potluck. I will leave it to you to decide whether or not I actually served it at the potluck.) (I totally served it at the potluck.) (What, not like what they didn't know hurt them.) (Stop judging me.)

When I got home, I cleaned out the car as best I could, but there is still a distinct odor of apples and cinnamon whenever I turn on the heater. I mention this solely because it's been one of the few times that one of my shining moments of sheer dumbassery has had such a pleasant side effect. We will see if this holds up to the summer, when I expect the inside of the car may smell more like high-proof applejack.

I was in Pittsburgh this past weekend to visit Soranokumo before she takes off for Japan. (Man, Pittsburgh and Los Angeles. Pretty much the two most opposite cities I could have visited in a month.) I had a lovely time under the stellar hospitality of both her and the Mews, and will get around to recapping it later this week, along with LA and all the other things I've been meaning to write. But in the meantime, hanging out with the House of Mews crew meant spending a weekend deeply immersed in old school FF7 (and pretty but dumb Advent Children), which made me go digging through my computer when I got back and rereading a lot of older things.

Right. So, anyway, I've been cleaning out my old files and WsIP, shifting things back and forth into "Work On This Now", "Work On This When Bored", "Work On This When Drunk", "Let This Sit And See If I Stop Hating It After Six Months", "Will Probably Never Finish This", "Scourge This From The Earth", and "Ha Ha What The Fuck Was I Thinking" folders. It's kind of fun.

I've been meaning to do the same thing to my Gmail chats, so I can cull out useful and/or entertaining bits from the various conversations and slap them into the all-purpose document I have up on my desktop all the time. (Currently, it is called Words.doc, and it is 106 pages long of ten point Times New Roman font brain detritus. Bits of fic that haven't earned their own files, half-written lj posts, phrases I especially like but can't find anything to do with, interesting facts that might spawn something someday, and aforementioned gmail and AIM chat conversational excerpts.) So, in the process of avoiding work, I unearthed something related to the previously posted 229 Things Sephiroth Never Expected To Say On The Phone, and 111 Messages Left On Tseng's Answering Machine.

Re-reading it, I could barely remember saying or writing half of these. But in the interest of completing the trilogy-- 101 Memos From Rufus Shinra's Desk.

So, one week down where I've managed to post every day. Three weeks to go. This is kind of fun, though I worry that I'm just annoying the shit out of people. Generally, I suppress that worry. But it's always there, you know? I'm guessing it stems back to reading about myself unfavorably in someone else's journal a long time ago; it's why I don't go in for anonymemes. I already know people who don't like me; why would I want to find out even more? Then I'd just end up sulking on AIM and being dour around people I really do like and who like me back, until I man up and get over it. Why bother with any of that? Feh.

Anyway, have some more unfinished writing bits.

I passed my goal for the first week. I have a goal of something in particular to complete for the second week, which will be harder to fulfill. Also, there appears to be a deer in our backyard again. Hello, deer. If you eat the hostas again, I can't guarantee your safety.

I spent the entire day sprawled around the pool, recovering from yesterday, with the occasional break for dim sum and barbecue, so instead of an entry where I talk about something, I'm going to just post some WsIP. Two from swimming, two from FFVII.

Now, I shall go to bed so I can wake up at five. Oh God, can I actually do this every day? Feh. Also, I missed [livejournal.com profile] squeemu's birthday, for which I shall go and flagellate myself now. Happy birthday, Squeem! You are my favorite emu ever!

In stuff not related to my life! You know, this has been a growing file for a couple of months, and we hit a reasonable number to stop at the other night, so. It's a sort of companion piece to 229 Things Sephiroth Never Expected To Say On The Phone.

As always, [livejournal.com profile] twigcollins came up with the really good ones.

Like, sometimes I write stuff. The first half of this was posted as a WIP last December, I think.

You know, just about the only thing I hate more than trying to think up titles is trying to approximate ratings. I guess this one falls somewhere between PG-13 and R, probably closer to R.

I said these would start out as one sentence things, and they did. But a bunch of them got longer. I feel sort of bad for the people who requested early on and only got one sentence, so if that was you, I owe you. Anyway, a short fic from the drabble meme for [livejournal.com profile] squeemu, who wanted Cloud and Zack and board games. I screwed up her prompt because I couldn’t get this out of my head, but there is boredom and there is a game!

And onwards into the meme we go!

Cannot sleep. Here's something that's been brewing a long time, culled from several conversations over the past month or so. Originally, we were shooting for 213, but they just kept coming. I'm sure you'll see more of them in the future.

So, I just watched Last Order, and these are my initial three-in-the-morning impressions. I'll be more coherent tomorrow.

The real question is, who is going to be the wonderful person who can help me find the hard rock music that played on the credits? I liked it a lot.

A batch of FFVII drabbles for the meme. I'm trying to group them roughly by fandom, which is why you'll be getting spammed by me. Also, I cheat. A lot. If you ask me for a pairing or a focus on a particular character, it is highly likely I'll end up twisting it for my own purposes. I'm quite sorry.

[livejournal.com profile] mercuriosity got the shortest drabble before, so I wrote her a long one to go with it. Only that ended up not being about what she asked for at all.

[livejournal.com profile] jen0va99 wanted Seph/Zack for her drabble. There's no real action in this, just Zack being well-meaning and Seph being a paranoid bastard. And Cloud being tired.

Zack is sort of a sly bastard anyway though and turned it into his section of a three-part bit of Ordinary Life universe. It was supposed to do a short ficlet on the background of the permanent mark on each of them: Sephiroth's tattoo, Cloud's earring, and Zack's facial scar. Cloud's piece (to be lengthened) can be found here. I should probably post that Seph one, except it kinda sucks hard.
