So I’ve voted, even though I am extremely wary of any voting system that lets politically ignorant doofuses like myself into the building. I have my “I voted!/Yo votè!” sticker and everything. The sticker is a nice bonus, but I bet they could get way more people to come to the polls if they served punch and pie afterwards. People get proactive for punch and pie. If I were running for presidency, I would operate my campaign on a punch and pie platform; I imagine this would also come in handy at the candidate debates. If my opponent says something I can’t answer—wham, banana cream pie to the face.

I wish I had more intelligent and heartfelt things to say on voting or politics, but I can’t think of much that hasn’t already been covered by more eloquent people. I spent most of my spite and general bitchery on IM and emails already, so.

It might seem like a pain in the ass, it might seem like you’re not really making a difference—but you are, and if you’re eligible to vote, I do quite hope you will exercise your rights and do so. In the meantime, you can enjoy this take on the electoral process, because Transmetropolitan is traditional and essential on election days.

A few links and some random blathering )

I’m supposed to head off to Chicago for another conference this Friday. Does anyone have any handy information on Chicago besides “It is cold and you will freeze your tender bits right off”? Any suggestions on what to do on my free day?
