I was thinking about bucket lists, and mostly about how I've never made a bucket list, and therefore I decided to make a bucket list. There were other steps in the process, including lengthy and tedious meditations on life and death and all that shit, but that was where I started and where I ended, basically.

#16: Clone the extinct Tasmanian tiger from DNA, hunt it, kill it, and have its head mounted and hung on my wall. )

I went to see the Jamie Wyeth exhibit at the Brandywine River museum about a month or so back, and it was pretty incredible. It reminds me of this quote from History Boys: "The best moments in reading are when you come across something - a thought, a feeling, a way of looking at things - which you had thought special and particular to you. And now, here it is, set down by someone else, a person you have never met, someone even who is long dead. And it is as if a hand has come out, and taken yours."

Weirdly, I think it was actually his Mischief Night which first made me feel this way. (The pumpkin is a pumpkin, but it is totally going "Wheee!") I just stood there and smiled helplessly at that painting. He paints such different things: pumpkins, dogs, hot male Russian ballet dancers, seagulls, fields, barnyard animals, Andy Warhol, and in so many different mediums. And then you could go roam through the other Andrew Wyeth and NC Wyeth exhibits in the museum, and it all makes one feel like a bit of an underachiever. It also makes for weird thoughts about shipping the Wyeth family dynasty with the Kennedy family dynasty, but that's for another day of talking about cross-RPF with overachieving people.
