And Krusty's superfluous third nipple.
Jun. 2nd, 2016 11:48 pmI've done it twice deliberately; I wonder if I could do it three times, and post every day for a month. The challenge might be fun. It might also stress me out unnecessarily! We shall have to see which one it is. (Then I remember how I posted multiple times a day in college, and I think, "Jesus, I didn't appreciate my idle days as much as I should have.")
Here is something I have mulled over an excessive amount of time this evening:
Centaur nipple placement. I was ready to be indignant about how centaurs always have nipples on their human chests but shouldn't they have them wherever a horse has nipples, and then I googled "do male horses have nipples" and THEY DON'T. You learn something new each day! Apparently male horses don't have nipples, or mammary glands, and so everything I thought I was ready to argue about centaur nipples is wrong.
Now. Apparently female horses have nipples on their hindquarters, so perhaps the chest-nipple-less Disney female centaurs in Fantasia were totally drawn according to this! (Or, uh, Disney was not going to have nipples to start with. Though they did have nipples on the harpies in the Night on Bald Mountain scene, brief but unmistakable. Which has its own set of issues, because harpies having nipples seems kind of weird since they're birds and don't nurse. And, and, mermaids! Are fish! Sort of. And probably also should not be nursing, or have belly buttons.
And then that brought me back to how I always hated the scene in the first book of A Song of Ice and Fire where Danaerys breastfeeds her dragons because, um, reptiles breastfeeding what the hell. But they're dragons and it's fantasy, so, why am I even getting bent out of shape about this.
It was at this point I started making a list of all fantastic creatures and whether or not they should have nipples and/or breastfeed, and I realized both my evening and google search history were doomed.
