Actually, I got flowers and personalized cookies for Valentine's Day this year, as opposed to last year's pity-Valentine from my local liquor store, so I'm coming out ahead, I think.
( Grief and food, part one )
I saw the Red Army documentary today, which was awesome and I highly recommend seeing it. I also went to the Astro Doughnuts and Chicken place near Metro Center today, which was awesome and I highly recommend eating from there. I also threw up so hard (unrelated to either of the first two items) I am surprised I did not shatter the porcelain of my toilet in the process. I do not highly recommend doing that.
Here is a link about Valentine's Day in the Georgian era. It includes the following gobbet of history:
Morning Herald – 4th March, 1784
It may be worth remarking, that on last Valentine’s Day, a couple were married in St. Peter’s Church, Derby, who had between them seven thumbs, viz. the woman three, and the man four.
…it is INDEED worth remarking. Happy Valentine's Day, y'all.
